Lux Library + Kitchen Remodel in Alexandria, Virginia
Project Overview
Our client found Four Brothers through Instagram and came to us with two goals: open up a closed-off, outdated kitchen and transform a room that had become a storage catch-all into the library she always wanted. She had strong taste and a clear vision, and our job was to help her execute it.
Design + Layout
We pulled out the existing peninsula and replaced it with a true island, which changed the entire flow of the kitchen. We also installed a larger window to bring in the natural light that the room had always been missing. Down the hall, we converted a neglected storage room into a floor-to-ceiling library with custom Cabico built-ins and decorative trim detailing along the ceiling border, a space we designed around the client's book collection and her love of a room that feels both beautiful and lived-in.
Style + Finishes
While light oak dominates the current moment, we made a case for something warmer here. The dark cherry island grounds the kitchen with a richness that reads luxurious without trying too hard. It's the kind of material choice that only improves with time. We used painted Cabico Elmwood cabinetry on the perimeter, Caesarstone countertops, and Rejuvenation lighting and hardware throughout. In the library, the standout is an Anthropologie ceiling mural that our client selected herself and is bold and full of character. Our installer rotated it to align with the natural elements visible through the windows, a small detail that makes the room feel even more like a sanctuary within the home.
