James Concepcion

Lead Carpenter

James was born and raised in the Philippines. His father was a home builder by trade so James learned the business from the ground up. After earning a two-year business degree, he moved to the US and settled in DC. Matt took a job in a restaurant and quickly climbed the ladder to the position of Sous Chef. But after four years, it became clear that James’ passion was the construction industry. He hung up his apron and joined Four Brothers in 2015. James seeks out opportunities to learn something new every day and savors his return to building something tangible with his own hands.

Kate Donahue, RA

Team Leader & Architect

Kate has always enjoyed working with her hands – and learning by doing. She earned a degree in interior design and moved to Dallas to work for Habitat for Humanity, first as an AmeriCorps Service member and then as a full-time staff member in the construction department. She returned to school to pursue a Master of Architecture degree at the University of Maryland. Although she worked as an intern at Four Brothers, Kate took a job with a firm that focused on mixed-use residential and urban planning projects following graduation. She learned a great deal but is happy to back with us, taking on projects at a scale she loves. Kate’s at her best working closely with residential clients to create functional, buildable designs.

Audrey English

Associate Architect

Audrey began her career with a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Studies from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, where she learned to draw and build primarily by hand. Immediately afterward she earned a Master of Architecture degree from Syracuse University, advancing her digital design abilities. She recently relocated to DC to join the Four Brothers team, where she will continue to broaden her skill set by learning from both coworkers and clients.

Steve Hershberger

Marketing

Steve was born and raised in the Washington, DC area. His natural tendency to innovate and create started in 1st grade when he developed the original prototype for a self-illuminating Band-Aid box (a concept still yet to catch on). At Four Brothers, Steve uses social media to generate buzz and introduce homeowners to our rockstar team of craftsmen and designers. He manages all aspects of marketing in the digital space and is keen on remodeling homes and websites alike. Steve attended George Mason University where he studied information systems and business operations management.

Alfred Johnson

Production Control

As the third child in the Johnson family of eight, Alfred developed an early interest in woodworking. At the age of 17, he started a millwork company in Pennsylvania with a childhood friend. Relocating to DC in 2000, he worked as a freelance trim carpenter and a cabinetmaker before Four Brothers was launched in 2006. In his role of Production Control, Alfred bridges the gap between our design and production departments. During the design phase of a project, Alfred is the go-to person for practical advice on installation and structural questions. He orders materials for all of our projects and ensures our quality standards are met during construction.
