The all-important kitchen was even more so in 753 Fairmont St. Because of the open floor plan it was designed to be an anchoring element for the entire front room without becoming overpowering or ostentatious. To accomplish this, we chose a contemporary flush slab door style for the main cabinetry in a dark stained oak finish. Even the dishwasher has a matching panel. The white glass upper cabinets provide a nice contrast, and keep the main cabinet run from becoming too heavy. These will tie in nicely with the white glass backsplash still to come. The island has two legs designed to support the countertop, and provide an eat in kitchen with room for four. The countertop is a white solid surface quartz with a mitered turned down edge to give the appearance of a much thicker piece – a technique which can be used in bathrooms as well as kitchens. The faucet is both functional and eye catching – and the pot filler on the wall adds an additional water source making it easy fill large pots of water. The end result is a well-designed, functional and beautiful kitchen which anchors the space and the activity of the household.
